Detail from a busy day at Stephen's Bridge. Note the gas light and Gardner's chimney and the Short Bridge in the distance which crosses the original course of the river and marks the boundary between Great and Little Coggeshall. Little Coggeshall parish council would meet in the Portobello also visible next to the boy fishing.
