- Bridge Street
The water cart being filled at the river. The cart was originally used to supply drinking water to those Coggeshall people who had no convenient well nearby. Pails were left out and the cart did the rounds filling them up at 1d a pail. This all stopped when mains water was laid on in 1911. After then the cart was used to water the streets in dry weather in an effort to keep the dust down. The parish council awarded the contract for this annually.
