Entertainment at the Horse River Bridge. The railings gave the bridge a very pleasing appearance and an almost unobstructed view of the river below. In a scene which must have been repeated many times over the centuries, a horse stands drinking in the river as passers-by contemplate the scene. It is said that in periods of dry weather carts and wagons were taken through the ford to dampen the wheels and keep them tight.
