Another view of the surviving Silk Mill. It was the upper floor of this part which contained the "Reel Room' which caught fire on Tuesday 28th January 1842. The steam pipe from the boiler to the cylinder set some of the woodwork alight and because it was at night and the factory empty, the fire was not seen until it was well developed. Hundreds of people turned out with buckets and eventually the fire was defeated. The demolished boiler house adjoined on the right.
